Unlocking the potential
The building offered great potential for a major refurbishment and our design involved demolition and rebuilding of the rear of the building, and the addition of a fourth floor. The extension is unseen from Poland Street where the original façade is retained, maintaining the existing streetscape. To the rear, light wells were in-filled and terraces formed, creating 2508sqm of new, high quality office accommodation.
"Can I take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this project which finished on time (and on budget!) and was extremely well received by the market."Mike Wood - M&G Real Estate
Fit for purpose
The building uses under floor cooling, allowing the existing steel structure to be fully exposed. Various elements of the building’s industrial past have been reclaimed and reused including a number of large steel fire doors giving the building a highly contemporary feel ideal for media users.
In 2013, the project was shortlisted for a BCO Award in the ‘Recycled & Refurbished Workplace’ category, as well as a national AJ Retrofit Award.
