The importance of collaborative design

Programmed by RIBA East in association with RTPI East of England and Anglia Ruskin University, this one-day conference will look at architects' and planners' experiences of the planning process and explore how better collaboration can help improve design outcomes.

Design Director Mike Jamieson will jointly present a case study on Aura, Great Kneighton, with Jonathan Brookes, Cambridge City Council and Jonathan Gimblett, Countryside Properties. Aura, winner of a RIBA East Award 2018, demonstrates what can be achieved when project partners are determined and work together to build a sustainable community.

Other topics of discussion at the conference will include:

  • Policy and Practice with Andy Von Bradsky, Chairman of The Housing Forum;
  • Are homes badly designed or is it cities which are badly designed? with Richard Blyth, Head of Policy and Research at RTPI;
  • Good Design in the Planning Process with Stephen Kelly, Director of New Joint Planning Service, Cambridge City Council.
